Here is our first Members contribuition from Francisco Jose Abel Conde of Spain! Francisco has written an interesting article accompanied by photos of his projects. Thanks Francisco! We look forward to more contributions from members like you!
Nº. 1 "1951: Soviet Mach 1: Junkers EF-131/DFS-346".
I always love to reproduce the projects of military aviation of the finale of WWII that were the basis of the development of the aviation to the present day: jet propulsion, revolutionary configurations such as the flying wings, wings that were swept-back and swept forward, canard configuration, planes stol/vtol, etc...
A few months ago I saw a model by Planet Models in 1/72 the Junkers Ju-287 V3, a very interesting model of a plane developed by the Soviets after WWII, with a configuration of the wings swept forward, and I remembered other configurations where this plane was joined with an Me-262. I was struck by the contrast in the orientation of the wings (positive and negative).
I remembered also another plane with wings swept back: the DFS 346; kit made by Huma Modell in 1/72. This plane was used by the Soviets too after the war (as the Junkers) for achieving Mach 1. So, I decided to connect both planes reproducing one of those reckless test flights (although as is well known, these were done using a Tupolev Tu-4 -derived from a captured B-29).
Nº. 2 Messerschmitt Me-262 HG Delta
This kit is a very interesting version of Me- 262 too, that I saw in a web of profiles of Secret Aircraft of WWII named Filtzerart. The model reminds us how we have reached the modern reactors. In this kit I only made the delta wings of plasticard, and joined them to a fuselage-conversion of Me-262 HG IV of Unicraft Models in 1/72.
Nº. 3 Messerschmitt Me-286
The kit is an invention (what if); linking a fuselage of an Me-262 of Unicraft Models in 1/72, to the wings and tail of an F-86 Saber. I needed to replace the triangular section of the Me-262 with an intake of resin from a BMW 003 engine in 1/48 made by the Argentine manufacturer ANTARES. The idea occurred to me regarding the influence that the Me-262 had in the development of F-86 Saber. Also, the very famous German pilot, Maj. Erich Hartmann, flew the American F-86 after WWII. For this, the kit is personalized with the personal scheme of Hartmann: petals around the nose, and the heart of Hartmann’s girlfriend.
Nº. 4 Messerschmitt Me-262 HG-III/III
The kit is a very interesting model of Unicraft Models in 1/72, with the wings swept back with a very pronounced angle, the turbines embedded between the fuselage and the wings, and the cockpit integrated in the vertical stabilizer (named type Lippisch), conferring a high aerodynamic.
Thanks for all,
Francisco
